Job Description

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The candidate must have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or any related field.

  • The candidate must have unrestricted right to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience using Solid-Works for 3D mechanical design and 2D drawing creation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge, academic studies or Experience in the following:

  • Performing CFD analysis using FloTherm.

  • Performing shock & vibration analysis.

  • Training on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing GD&T.

  • Hands-on lab instrumentation and measurements.


As a mechanical design engineer within Intel's Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group, you will be part of a hardware design team that defines, designs, and manufactures Solid-State Drives SSD for data center and client applications.

You will collaborate with the electrical design team to design, analyze, and develop SSD hardware solutions and optimize the design for cost and performance. Also, you will apply heat transfer principals to solve thermal design challenges and apply the principals of material strength to perform structural analysis to achieve design reliability. You will collect empirical measurements to validate the design. To accomplish your deliverables you will use CAD packages for model creation SolidWorks and will analyze your design for thermal performance using CFD software FloTherm and mechanical performance using FEA tools SolidWorks, or ANSYS. You will work with Intel's outsourcing organization and external suppliers to prototype and mass produce your design.
