Intel Cloud HPC Performance Engineer in Hillsboro, Oregon

Job Description

The Windows Operating System WOS division is looking for a performance engineer to drive cloud HPC performance on Intel's world class server technologies. Responsibilities may be quite diverse in a technical nature and will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the role, U.S. experience and education requirements.

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Will engage with stakeholders across Intel and Microsoft to characterize and optimize the performance of HPC and Machine Learning workloads representative of Microsoft cloud usages on Xeon servers and the PHI product line. In this capacity

  • Will also provide technical leadership and guidance to other project engineers, as you drive and oversee the analysis of micros, tools, workloads and other key metrics in pursuit of highly parallel software and architectural optimizations for Microsoft's Azure Cloud.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 3 months experience with the following:

o Computer architecture and system software interactions.

o Windows and/or Linux performance analysis.

o HPC and machine learning applications and workloads.

o Software and hardware virtualization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of IA, in particular including the Intel PHI product line and HPC system architecture.

  • Performance analysis experience with Windows and/or Linux software.

  • Familiarity with system performance analysis tools, such as Perfmon, SAR, Top, etc.

  • Familiarity with software performance profiling tools, such as VTune, XPerf, or Linux Perf.

  • Experience with virtualized server and cloud environments.

  • Proficient with Microsoft and/or Linux development tools and environments.

  • Good understanding of software and system hardware interactions.
