Intel Mechanical Engineer - Intern 2017 in Hillsboro, Oregon
The Disruptive Innovative Solutions Team, part of Advance Client Solutions team, is looking for an Engineering Intern to help define and shape future Product Proof-of-Concepts. This Team is within Client Research & Development which is part of Intel's Client Computing Group and is chartered to pioneer, explore, refine and prototype disruptive consumer computing experiences.
Responsibilities may be quite diverse in a technical nature and will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the role, U.S. experience and education requirements. Job assignments may be for the summer or for short periods throughout the school year.
The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Exploring and refining innovative technologies and architecture
Experimentally analyze and debug prototype systems
Researching new materials & technologies and processes that advances industry best practices.
Research, develop and productize mass producible solutions.
Design and build proof-of-concept prototypes, perform Design-of-Experiments DOE, mechanically instrument prototypes for thermal, stress, vibration, acoustic, etc., and help perform technical analysis and trade-off studies on design feature alternatives to optimize against design priorities
Good verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.
Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Must have unrestricted right to work in the US without requiring Sponsorship.
Minimum 2 months experience designing systems
Minimum 2 months experience with lab testing and experimental analysis.
Minimum 6 months experience in engineering fundamentals
Experience designing, building, and testing of complex and high density computer and/or electro-mechanical system prototypes or/and functional proof-of-concept prototypes
Proven expertise and track record in developing and pushing the technical limits of aggressively sized small form factor system designs based on innovative Industrial Design Concepts
Knowledge and working experience in one or more of the following processes/disciplines machine design, thermodynamics, acoustics, injection molding, extrusions, statics, vibration, material mechanics, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical modeling, industry standards, etc..
Experience in design tools i.e. ProE and testing tools i.e. LabVIEW or other Software tools
-Demonstrated creative approach to "real world" practical problem solving in a team environment
- Experience with prototype fabrication Prior technical experience in industry
