Job Description

The Storage Technology Group is looking for an experienced Validation Engineer. You will be working with a small team of validation engineers and tool developers on future looking storage technologies and pathfinding initiatives. You will be expected to offer sound technical guidance and analytical insight as a key contributor for the team. Your responsibilities will be to execute validation schemes, develop validation plans and test matrices, execute experiments, analyze experimental data, debug performance related issues, support demos, work with bus/protocol analyzers and other debug tools for verification of failures, and report results that will impact Intel's storage business. Projects frequently involve HW, FW, and system focused engineers and teams. The work is fast paced and requires a flexible approach.The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:- Excellent clear communication skills with the ability to drive cross-team projects to closure.- Strong technical, validation, and debug skills.- Great team player.


Candidate must be familiar with all phases of validation, debug and analysis, designing and executing experiments, rolling up and presenting results back to internal customers. These phases require skills in tuning platforms for performance testing and understanding the impact of system configuration and components on storage performance. Some tuning parameters include BIOS settings, SATA, NVMe, power management, PCIe etc. Some projects may require validation and analysis tool development.


  • BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in doing validation (system level as well as component level

  • 3+ years of experience in Storage (IO stack, from the application level to the storage device)

  • 2+ years of experience debugging storage FW and HW

  • 1+ year of Storage device experience – especially SSD technologies

  • 3+ years of experience working with SATA and PCI-E storage devices

  • 2+ years knowledge of Storage protocols such as NVMe, SATA, SAS

  • 1+ years of programing in C and Python programming languages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent clear communication skills with the ability to drive cross-team projects to closure.

  • Strong technical, validation, and debug skills.

  • Great team player.

  • Experience in Storage analysis / tracing toolsets and benchmarking (FIO, IOMeter, blktrace)
