Job Description

This position is for an internship within the Data Center Engineering Group's Performance and Power Team. This team assesses next generation server CPUs and platforms using a wide variety of benchmark and workloads key to Intel's enterprise and cloud customers. This includes areas ranging from machine learning, web service, video-on-demand, numerical simulation, storage, B2B transactions, financial transactions, etc. You will be setting up and running server and datacenter workloads, measuring power and performance metrics on single node and cluster configurations, and optimizing CPU and system settings accordingly. You may also be evaluating new memory technologies for use on server systems and developing new use models for these technologies. Some debug of performance and power issues may also be involved. Responsibilities may be quite diverse of an exempt technical nature. U.S. experience and education requirements will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the job. Job assignments are usually for the summer or for short periods during breaks from school.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

Minimum of 6 months in:

  • Linux OS, Python

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience running system level power and performance testing on any platform type.

  • Experience working with server systems. Experience with Windows Server OS, VMWare.
