Intel Wireless Standards/System Engineer in Santa Clara, California

Job Description

Next Generation and Standards (NGS) within the Intel Communication and Devices Group (iCDG) is looking for an experience Wireless Standards System Engineer responsible for 3GPP standardization including LTE and 5G NR and innovation towards the next generation of wireless networks.

The candidate will be responsible for developing solutions and influencing 3GPP on Radio Access Network RAN layer 2/3 control plane and data plane protocols, system concepts, cross-layer and cross RAN/EPC optimization and network architecture for LTE evolution and 5G standards.

Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Develop and evaluate technical solutions, contributions and specifications in 3GPP LTE evolution and 5G standards groups.

  • Attend 3GPP RAN2 standards meetings Drive innovations and technical contributions to improve the standards

  • Guide and support products development and marketing decision aligned with standards.

  • The candidate will also play an active role in driving standards direction, harmonization and advanced research collaboration with external partners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with minimum 5+ years of the below related wireless standards engineering experience.

  • Solid understanding of wireless access network communication principles.

  • Demonstrated technical experience in 3GPP LTE design and optimization.

  • Strong knowledge of core network and cross layers design and inter-dependency

  • Strong experience in wireless systems such as 3GPP and 3GPP2, WiMAX, WiFi and 4G/5G wireless technologies including Machine-to-Machine/Internet of Things, relay, heterogeneous network, OFDMA, MIMO, interference management and cooperative network.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of WLAN wireless systems and protocols such as 802.11 and Wi-Fi Strong analytical and research skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills Self-motivated, proactive, good team player Strong MAC/protocols/network/cross layers simulation skills using C/C++ , NS-3, Matlab, OPNET and other tools is an asset

  • Additional knowledge and experience in other wireless network standards such as Bluetooth, NFC and 3GPP is a plus.
