Job Description

As a Data Scientist, the responsibilities will encompass all areas of collecting transforming and making data available to analysts and engineers. This will include all areas of extract, transform, and loading ETL. You will work with a variety of incoming data formats to include but not limited to CSV, JSON, XML, and nonstandard ASCII text formats. Once the data is loaded into the data system, you will also be responsible for transforming into views that aid in extraction and visualization. As the project matures, work will include the preparation of data for machine learning and other advanced analytic techniques.: This Position requires expertise in relational database structures, data transformation, and hadoop based Big Data technologies i.e. Hive, Impala, Spark. Skills with analytics packages i.e. R, Matlab, python, and similar, programming languages i.e. Java, C/C++, SQL are highly desirable. The best qualified candidates will be able to apply skills and analytics within a distributed computing architecture.Your work will include prototyping solutions during Research and Development phases, where you will envision, share, and articulate approaches. Your skills will be called upon to understand and work around possible limitations in methods, then develop extensible, scalable, reliable software for high volume, real-time or batch data processing. You will also participate in the process turn-over from product development to high volume manufacturing or to IT for lifecycle management.


You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics +3 years' experience, or Bachelor's degree with 4+ years' experience.

Proficiency in data munging, data extraction, and validation.

Data Engineering principles and competencies required:

Working knowledge of database technology including intermediate fluency with relational databases and SQL.

Strong Proficiency in: One of more of the following languages: R, Python, C++, C, or Java and the ability to apply these to database applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Hadoop experience will be given top priority.

Experience with MongoDB is desirable, but not required.
