This role is located in the New Jersey / New York area.

Intel Programmable Solutions Group (PSG) is looking for an outstanding engineer to join our team to support our fast-growing traditional FPGA business and FPGA-based portfolio of acceleration solutions targeted at the financial sector. As a Field Application Engineer (FAE) in the sales organization, you will be responsible for showing the customer how Intel PSG FPGAs, Acceleration solutions/workloads, and Intellectual Property can be used to meet the customer’s system requirement and then assist the customer with their developments using our RTL and High level language flows.

In this role, you will be expected to understand and take the customer system requirements and align Intel PSG solutions to propose solutions and/or proof of concepts that can be used by a customer to evaluate our technology and then use as a starting point for their design. You will also be expected to provide on-site customer support and training as needed to ensure the customer is successful when using our technology. This role will have a significant engineering component along with interpersonal skills requirements to interface with a broad range of customers.

Your specific role will include, but will not be limited to, the following responsibilities :

  • Engage with our customer's high level system architects and key decision makers to understand their systems applications and requirements

  • Develop "proof of concepts" or reference designs to demonstrate how FPGAs can be used in their application or to accelerate their applications and influence the customer to use our technology

  • Align with the key influencers both at Intel and the customer's technical staff to coordinate design support and technical training

  • Demonstrate teamwork and ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

  • Ensure that Intel's roadmap is aligned with our Customers long-term requirements by being an internal advocate for their product and support needs

Additional information:

This is a commissioned sales position. Responsible for giving product presentations to the customer describing how Intel products provide the optimum solution to their application. Develop a clear understanding of Intel's business practices including pricing, forecasting, T/Cs, Distribution and Business Code of Ethics. During customer's product design, responsible for design assistance including onsite visits to review designs, examine customer problems and provide suggestions on optimal ways to use Intel products. Manage relationships between Intel and customers by establishing relationships with key individuals at accounts. Identify and develop new opportunities within accounts. Give product demonstrations and execute benchmarks to show product capabilities and ease of use. Understand competitor's strengths and weaknesses relative to the appropriate technical strategy. Communicate strategies to appropriate field and factory personnel to obtain required support and coordination. Assist the customer throughout the development cycle to ensure successful completion of the product. Provide timely feedback to the factory on product and strategy issues to ensure the Intel is capable of responding to and/or anticipating changes needed to maintain success. Provide training and account strategy support for distributors. Requires thorough knowledge of business practices and procedures in order to perform non repetitive, analytical work. Provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.


“Must Have" skillset/work experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline (MS preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years of FPGA industry experience as a pre-post sales engineer, applications engineer or systems engineer.

  • Experience in FPGA, ASIC, or digital design.

  • Proficiency in the use of FPGA development tool.

  • Strong background in programming languages (OpenCL, Cuda, SYCL or C++).

  • Good understanding of how to map mathematical algorithms into hardware (Processor, GPU, DSP, FPGA).

  • Available for regular business travel required in NY/NJ area

"Nice to have" skillset/work experience:

  • Knowledge of financial algorithms a plus.

  • Strong customer-facing, presentation and communication skills
