Job Description

This is an application engineering internship in the Intel NVM Solutions Group (NSG) in Folsom, CA. The NVM solutions group produces solid state storage devices for Ultrabook*, PC notebook, desktop, and datacenter compute applications and environments. These solid state storage devices (SSDs) are sold to major compute and storage OEMs around the world and sold through major distributors and online e-tailers.

Key objectives include the following:

Drive projects related to the launch/ramp of new Intel Optane and 3D NAND-based products, including the following:

  • Drive and manage one or many solid state drive (SSD) product(s) qualifications at premier data center customers. You will work closely with the Application Engineers and their customers to manage the technical engagement on Intel SSD product solutions by understanding qualification feature requirements, debugging customer hardware, firmware, and application barriers to adoption.

  • The AE intern will also spend certain percentage of bandwidth supporting customer solution development or tuning for data center customers. This role evangelizes the technical benefits of SSDs, creates preference for Intel SSD offerings, enables customer and end-user adoption of Intel solutions, and provides continuing technical support for qualified products

  • Supports ecosystem and tools enabling to drive SSD adoption

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Participating in new product definition and development, representing and advocating technical customer needs to internal stakeholders, creating customer-specific competitive analyses from a technical perspective, developing and presenting technical product content to internal and external customers.

  • The AE intern works with the AE and sales team to resolve technical questions, participates in customers meetings and presentations, acts as technical adviser, consultant, analyst, and program manager for customer technical interactions, responds to/supports customer requests or events as they occur, and develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgment.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences. This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.

Minimum requirements:

The candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

6+ months of experience in the following areas:

  • Compute and/or Storage System hardware and/or software using both Windows and Linux based operating systems in the data center/enterprise

  • Debugging System issues that may be hardware, firmware, and/or application related

  • Technical concepts, creating collateral and delivering top ranked Technical or sales training to both small and large audiences of technical domain experts
