Intel Firmware Validation Architect/Lead Engineer in Folsom, California
In this position, you will be an integral part of the NVM Storage Group Firmware development activities. You will be responsible for the successful definition, development and deployment of all tests required to validate the FW capabilities for NAND and Optane products. You will be deeply engaged with the FW product leads, architects and the platform validation teams to define and implement a robust validation plan. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Defining validation & first level integration strategy (& test plans) for all product features including technologies like new non-volatile memory, storage interfaces, security, customer features, etc.
Leading the definition and development of new validation methods to enable more testing to be accomplished before ASIC power on.
Collaborating with engineers across disciplines to debug and resolve complex issues.
Engaging with the platform validation teams to ensure our SSD products have a robust overall validation plan and that FW validation and integration schedules are aligned properly.
Engaging with counterparts in partner platform organizations such as PEG and CCG to ensure alignment of validation plans, data sharing, and common tools.
Developing personal technical expertise in the new technology areas to ensure you can have significant impact on developing validation coverage plans for new complex capabilities.
Working closely with architecture and senior development engineers across multiple disciplines to influence product design to enable more effective validation and debug.
Coding significant contributions to the development of validation tests and tools in support of the product firmware test plans.
- Candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree or a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Minimum 2 years’ experience coding in both C and Phython
Minimum 5 years’ experience developing and implementing validation plans for complex embedded systems, real-time operating system RTOS, and HW/SW interactions
Minimum 5 years’ experience developing, deploying and maintaining tests. These tests should include a combination of performance, black box system tests, and white box test that use error/state injection
Minimum 2 years’ experience with the storage stack, PCIe/NVMe/SAS/SATA, preferably NAND/Optane SSDs and associated drivers
Demonstrated experience in test design and implementation that run across a variety of products and platforms with maximum reuse
Experience in setting validation strategy for features that require larger ecosystem enabling to productize
Experience in measuring validation coverage
Expertise in PCIE/NVMe, SATA, or SAS protocol and debug, including knowledge of relevant debug tools
Experience developing and debugging code in the Windows* or Linux* environments, in particular with device drivers or firmware
Virtual platform development experience- planning, writing, and executing tests in on an emulated product
Agile SW development experience
