Intel Artificial Intelligence Research Intern in Hillsboro, Oregon
Intel Labs is seeking motivated graduate interns in the areas of theoretical and applied artificial intelligence research. This temporary position with the Brain-Inspired Computing Lab is located in Hillsboro, Oregon, or Santa Clara, California, at our research campuses. At BCL, we work with other internal teams and researchers at universities around the world to develop neuro-scientifically inspired learning algorithms and technologies that make new computing possible. We research, experiment, and prototype ideas that have an impact on Intel and its customers across a wide range of applications.
During your internship, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating new artificial intelligence algorithms and systems inspired by cognitive and systems neuroscience. This requires some familiarity with techniques in machine learning, deep learning, or reinforcement learning, and relevant software frameworks. Experience with neuroscience is not required, but interest in it will benefit you. You will use your knowledge of scientific principles to suggest and research promising approaches. You will work in a team-oriented collaborative environment to meet your goals. You are expected to utilize state-of-the-art principles and theories, form strong relationships with university researchers and key collaborators, and contribute to Intel technologies and/or the scientific literature. You will be expected to focus on a specific project of mutual interest to you and your mentor(s), focusing on a key research question that will move your work forward and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills daily
You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through your educational level research and/or relevant job/internship experiences.
Enrolled in a PhD program in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, statistics, electrical engineering, or a relevant engineering/science discipline
1+ year of research experience in machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, or algorithms
1+ year of experience in the development of algorithms in high-level languages such as Python, C++, Java, etc.
Publications in top-tier conferences and journals in machine learning related fields (NIPS, ICML, AAAI, CVPR, etc.)
1+ year of experience in cognitive/systems neuroscience
1+ year of experience with deep learning frameworks
