Job Description

Component Design Engineers are responsible for the design and development of electronic components. Responsibilities may include: the design of chip layout circuit design, circuit checking, device evaluation and characterization, documentation of specifications, prototype construction and checkout, modification and evaluation of semiconductor devices and components, performing developmental and/or test work, reviewing product requirements and logic diagrams, planning and organizing design projects or phases of design projects. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgement.

Responsabilities may include but not limited to:

  • Performing circuit/logic design, layout and verification activities

  • Designing, simulating, and testing prototype circuits

  • Developing automation flows to improve the design quality and productivity

  • Planning and organizing design projects or phases of the design projects

  • Responding to customer/client requests or events as they occur


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • You must possess an MS or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate experience in any or multiple areas of CMOS VLSI design including eFuse/PROM, memory, analog digital, and mixed signal circuits

  • Demonstrate experience in semiconductor device physics and scaling

  • Demonstrate understanding of technology design rules, process development, and process integration

  • Demonstrate experience with standard EDA tools for layout, circuit simulation, timing analysis, and layout parasitics extraction

  • Demonstrate ability to solve complex problems using computer algorithms and programming techniques

  • Demonstrate strong design automation skills, good software knowledge, and experience with Unix and one or multiple programming languages, including but not limited to skill, C, C++, Perl, Tcl
