This position is with the Storage Technologies Group within Intel's Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group NSG. NSG is one of the fastest growing business groups at Intel. In this role you'd join a R&D team of top-notch engineers setting the course for the future of storage in the Storage Technologies Group. STG is responsible for Architecting NSG's NAND and 3D XPoint based products and for researching future directions for these products and their role in the overall computing system.Job Description: We are seeking a Firmware Architect skilled at defining robust and scalable firmware architectures and working collaboratively with engineering teams to bring products to life. This architect will join an already highly performing architecture team and grow that architecture team to broadly deliver the architectural specifications, plans and strategies needed to fuel NSGs growing and diversifying product roadmap. This architect will work closely with a broader architecture team, starting a product definition, ensuring both a strong firmware architecture and strong support for that architecture in the custom SSD ASIC upon which it will run. This position is based in Oregon, with the rest of the NSG architecture team, and requires extensive collaboration with our Folsom, California and Longmont, Colorado based firmware engineering teams. The firmware responsibilities may span both NAND based and 3D Xpoint based products.


MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study.10 years of experience in software or firmware development.5 years of firmware architecture experience.Requirement details:This is a senior position requiring a skilled architect and firmware developer. The candidate should have multiple years of experience delivering embedded firmware architectures and working with developers to realize those architectures and deliver products. The candidate should also have significant firmware programming experience. The candidate is expected to be self-driven and self-motivated and to be able to independently define product directions and to collaborate effectively with NSG firmware engineering teams as well as with other NSG architects. The candidate must have excellent communication and be skilled at establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with our partner groups. They must be based in Oregon but able to travel to NSG partner groups primarily located in Folsom, CA and Longmont, CO.

Non-Volatile Solutions Memory Group: The Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group is a worldwide organization that delivers NAND flash memory products for use in Solid State Drives (SSDs), portable memory storage devices, digital camera memory cards, and other devices. The group is responsible for NVM technology design and development, complete Solid State Drive (SSD) system hardware and firmware development, as well as wafer and SSD manufacturing.
