Group Description

The Storage Technologies Group is leading advanced development of disruptive new products based on Intel NAND and Intel 3D XPoint technologies, and custom software solutions. These new storage devices and software deliver reduced cost, increased density, and dramatic performance improvements, while also saving power and enabling smaller and lighter computing form-factors.

Job responsibilities

You will be part of a team responsible for defining and leading cross-group and cross-functional storage R&D initiatives that deliver value by improving performance, cost, and feature-set of Intel storage subsystems in datacenter and/or client solutions. You will be also primarily responsible for pathfinding new system use cases with Intel 3D XPoint technology in product proof-of-concepts, custom tools, or simulation models in C/C++ and other high level languages. You will use these tools as the basis for experiments that directly inform product architecture and design tradeoffs. Results are achieved by leading successful transition of these new concepts into Intel storage software or SSD products.

Qualifications

You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience would be obtained through your educational level, research, and/or relevant job/internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of experience, or M.S. in CS or CE with 6+ years of experience.

  • 6+ yrs experience in firmware engineering and software engineering

  • 4+ yrs experience with C/C++ programming skills.

  • 2+ yrs experience with computer architecture and operating systems fundamentals.

  • 1+ yrs experience in high-performance low-level system software development.

  • 2+ yrs experience with storage/NVM technologies.

  • Experience in developing a multitasking applications (1 or more courses / projects)

  • Required behavioral skills include ability to influence decision makers and peers in partner organizations. Strong problem solving and analytical skills, results orientation, written/verbal communication, and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ yrs experience in solid-state non-volatile media algorithms.

  • 1+ yrs experience in memory and I/O subsystems.

  • 1+ yrs experience with firmware development using ARM* architecture

  • 1+ yrs experience with BIOS/OROM software.

  • 1+ yrs experience with storage standards like SATA, NVMe

  • 1+ yrs experience with Python language
