Job Description

Intel Product Assurance and Security IPAS Governance & Operations is responsible for implementing and operationalizing proactive security and risk-prioritized measures such as Security Development Lifecycle SDL process, tools and training to embed a secure-by-design approach. In addition, the organization is responsible for establishing and improving key operational elements, providing governance and oversight, and fostering a security first culture into Intel's product development and IPAS' strategic practices.

The Director of SDL Engineering will lead and develop a team of SDL engineers, architects and security consultants that implement and drive security practices and embed a secure-by-design approach for product development across Intel. Core job responsibilities include:

  • Drive the strategic development, implementation and continuous improvement of the SDL

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the SDL process, engineering and operations

  • Build and update secure product development tools and technologies

  • Design and implement training, requirements, tools and practices for effective, efficient secure development

  • Champion security best practices across the company

  • Provide inputs to product security policies, standards and training

  • Manage the adoption of the SDL program through strong stakeholder engagement

  • Coordinate with product development teams to align and address SDL requirements, tasks, issues, and remediation activities

  • Broker and manage stakeholder demand for applicable security services and tools required for secure product development

  • Define and develop the strategy and vision to apply industry leading practices and technology to increase efficiency while raising the bar for product security and secure development practices

  • Team leadership, employee development and performance management


  • Must have experience managing SDL processes and systems

  • Deep understanding of all phases of the product development lifecycle and secure design

  • Proven experience working with product development teams and third parties

  • Strong knowledge of security concepts and hardware and software development methods

  • Experience and expertise with security technologies, such as cryptography, configuration management, secure coding practices, threat modeling, etc.

  • Must have strong leadership skills including excellent communication, stakeholder management, ability to delegate and lead others, and ability to work in an environment with change and ambiguity

  • Demonstrated track record of leading and managing teams

  • Must have ability to scope and plan work needed for areas of ownership and provide clear feedback to the team on risks, issues and help needed

  • Capable of synthesizing complex information into clear messages, often speaking on behalf of IPAS Management

  • Detail oriented with an inclination to identify and implement processes

  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to build respect and influence at all levels

  • B.S./M.S. degree in an engineering discipline including Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related area +10 years of team management MBA and security certifications are a plus
