Job Description

Intel Labs is seeking leading computational researchers to pioneer a new class of algorithms targeted for our neuromorphic processors under development. Our goal is to exploit neuromorphic and related non Von Neumann architectures to solve real-world problems with orders of magnitude gains versus the best known conventional solutions. We are interested in a wide range of computational domains spanning neural network pattern matching, online and on-chip learning of all forms, probabilistic inference, sparse coding, functional approximation, and dynamic control algorithms. We have a similarly broad application space in mind including vision, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and large-scale scientific and big data problems.

Responsibilities may be quite diverse in a technical nature and will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the role, U.S. experience and education requirements.

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing practically useful algorithms by drawing from state-of-the-art computational neuroscience and machine learning understanding.

  • Collaborate with Intel's external academic and industry partners with hands-on work spanning high-level modeling to bare-metal programming.

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.


You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Relevant experience can be obtained through school work, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/or work experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have PhD in Computational Neuroscience, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of project experience using Python, Matlab, and OOP languages

  • At least 1 year of experience modeling spiking neural networks.

  • Publication record that demonstrates a history of creative algorithmic innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of deep learning and/or other machine learning methods.

  • Strong grasp of computational fundamentals, computer architecture, and dynamical systems.
