Job Description

Intel is looking for a motivated platform architect to lead the definition of the next generation of Xeon Platforms.

In this role the candidate will lead the architecture pathfinding by collaborating closely with architects and technologists across Intel divisions and customers to deliver innovative technical solutions that meet their needs.

The candidate will collaborate closely with the Data Center planning team and the platform engineering team to set the technical landing zone requirements for the products at the silicon and platform level.

The candidate will participate in many decision forums with many VPs and the General Manager of the Data Center Group.

This role will entail:

  • Responsible for the platform and technology pathfinding including but limited to memory, IO, coherency interconnect, power envelope, system level boundaries, etc... to shape the Silicon and Platform ingredients

  • Partner with the CPU and IP architects to define the platform

  • Work closely with technologists and architects across groups to identify the next big technology and its readiness and intercept timeline

  • Work closely with OEM and CSP to identify their needs and propose solutions to meet those needs

  • Lead customer engagements in different forums like ETR, CTO, PSR

  • Work closely with planning to set the technical landing zone requirements- In addition to working with the silicon/CPU architect, engage with the expanded platform team for other ingredients: storage, networking, accelerators, FPGA, memory, Power, thermal, Etc...

  • Partner with key divisions inside Intel to accelerate our product offering to achieve the technical and business needs of our key customers.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Have a long track record of success in platform architecture

  • he ability to be able to pick up on new technology domains quickly

  • Position requires breadth with "sufficient" depth in as many disciplines as possible


  • BS/MS in EE/CE/CS

  • 10+ years working in Hardware, Software, Platform architecture, Data Center or Server industries

  • Excellent Customer facing skills

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated track-record of self-directed execution and working across organizational boundaries

  • Strong background in CPU/DOC architecture, Power, PCIe, memory architecture, and coherency

  • Strong background in Systems, Form Factors, Power Delivery, Racks and Cooling- Exposure to Ethernet Networking, switches, Optical technologies

  • Exposure to Big Data, Memory-Storage tiers, Databases technologies

  • Exposure to Virtualization, Containers, emerging technologies like FaaS.
