Intel Onsite Linux Software Engineer in Hudson, Massachusetts
Software Engineers conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers, electronic data processing systems software. You will determine computer user needs, advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements, designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Respond to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develop solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgement and formal software process.
You will provide high-level support kernel engineering services for Intel and our partner company and will work from our partner site. You will maintain close working relationships with customers, top developers, architects and administrators. In addition assisting the customer support team with most complex and challenging issues. The candidate will be in daily contact with Intel engineering team, allowing you to regularly work alongside some of the best open source developers at both sides.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Handle and direct communications between Intel and Partner Company
Resolve complex customer problems within customer operating system on Intel hardware
Work closely with partner engineering team managers and development engineering teams from both sides
Analyze upstream development against customer-reported defects and develop patches to resolve the issues
Use available tools to investigate and troubleshoot technical issues
Demonstrate considerable judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtain

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through relevant previous school, industry jobs and/or research experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Computer Software or related areas with 4 years of experience or Master’s degree in computer science/ computer software with 3 years of experience
4+ years of experience using Linux operating system
Familiarity with Linux kernel patch process and experience using Git
Familiarity with the Linux kernel module development
Ability to work full time on partner site
Ability to read and write C language code
Ability to patch back-porting and modify code to apply it to partner products
Ability to write and execute tests for Intel enabled hardware
Passion for open source technologies
Manage workload to ensure that all issues are handled in timely manner
