Job Description

The Developer will work on design and implementation of low level software for a new architecture, developing and evaluating software technology in conjunction with work the underlying system. This position will specifically involve analyzing applications performance and analysis tools to develop, improve, and/or create new performance analysis tooling for a new processor architecture. This role is a member of a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary software team working closely with processor core/system architects. The software team is responsible for developing the software stack - runtime support, compilers, base support for debuggers, profilers, etc. The team will utilize their technology with external customer HPC workloads in the target environment through a co-design effort. This will enable the evaluation of workloads for an exascale system as design alternatives are being considered. This position involves work on a U.S. Government contract which may impose certain security requirements


Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, ELectrical Engineering or other teahnical engineering field.

  • 4 years of relevant work experience with Programming in C/C++ Prior experience working on runtime support, performance or debugging tools, and performance tuning applications.

  • Excellent knowledge of hardware architecture and software interaction, and parallel computing.

  • Good grasp of performance issues of large-scale HPC codes: synchronization, communication, load balance, memory access patterns.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Knowledge of MPI, OpenMP highly desirable, including HPC application tuning

  • Knowledge of FPGA, GPGPU approaches

  • Experience working with a range of benchmarks and application workloads to understand tools and run-time support issues

  • Good working knowledge of Linux.
