Job Description

Intel’s Internet of Things Group is looking for an architect to define the next generation of retail Point of Sale (POS) technology, including on-premise, cloud, mobile and Self-Check-Out.

Today’s retail enterprise is working to determine how to integrate modern Cloud POS capabilities into their established systems .We are seeking an experienced architect to work on the next generation of POS solutions that has deployed both old and new POS software and hardware. This individual should have both a strong vision for the future of POS technology and hands-on technical experience with current systems. In this role you will work as part of a team to define a robust architecture that works across the key compute environments: from Cloud, to Fog, to on-premise computing.

This role will include analyzing existing solutions and determining the technical and business challenges with today’s solutions. A key deliverable is to ensure that today’s discrete systems like POS, Digital Signs, Inventory Tracking w/sensors, and Digital Security Systems all work together, sharing data between systems.

Technologies used in the project are:

  • Virtualization (Containers and Docker Experience a plus)

  • Thin Client Architectures (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)

  • Cloud Solutions (specifically POS Applications in Cloud)

  • Sensors (Cameras, BLE, Computer Vision, and RFID)

Responsibilities

  • Position will report directly to the General Manager of one of the xPGs.

  • Leading a heavily matrixed organization responsible for the definition, design, development and deployment of one of Intel's future Platforms and is responsible for its ultimate success in the market.

  • Flawless execution of these platform programs will pave the way for corporate growth by establishing a clear end user value proposition, setting architectural and industry direction, and building healthy ecosystems.

  • Is fluent in a variety of modern technologies, languages, and frameworks and can translate between technical and business stakeholders.

  • Manages strong internal and external networks, comfortably influences at the Senior Executive level, is an exquisite communicator, and delivers consistently exceptional results.

  • The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the transformation of Intel from a product focused to a platform focused organization.

Qualifications

  • Technical Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of experience or Master's Degree with 6+ years of experience in a similar or related role in a retail environment with the following experience:

  • First hand Customer Experience

  • Experience with POS architecture in an enterprise retail environment

  • Experienced in the design of IT retail solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a consultant in a large IT company
