Intel Wireless Protocol Software Engineer–5G-LTE-3G in San Diego, California

Job Description

Join Intel as part of the BaseBand & SoC Development group in iCDG (Intel's Communication and Devices Group). We are looking for Wireless Protocol Software Engineer 5G/LTE/3G to join next generation cellular protocol stack development at Intel.

In this position you will lead and contribute to the design and development of Intel's multimode cellular modem baseband 2G/3G/LTE and upcoming 5G.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, development, integration of protocol stack software for wireless modem and prototype platforms for 5G/LTE/3G protocol stack L2

  • Implement new 3GPP/Customer/User Plane for 5G/LTE/3G protocol stack features in baseband modem designs to meet functional, quality, performance, footprint and power requirements

  • Log Analysis of customer software defects and followed by implementation of bug-fixes or enhancements to the system

  • Driving Customer discussions and meetings related to bugs, requirements, etc.

  • Travel : May need to travel to Customer premises.


Minimum Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline, with main subjects and work experience in academic or internship projects related to wireless communications and embedded software engineering.

  • 8+ years in 3G/LTE/5G or other Wireless protocol stack development experience

  • 8+ years of solid and proven software development skills and coding practices in embedded C/C++ Strong communication, negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Experience with developing software for a multi-core architecture and time critical functions in embedded systems

  • Good embedded debugging skills and familiarity with protocol trace & analysis tools

  • Good understanding of software development methodologies and strong verbal and written communication skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with of TCP/IP protocol trace analysis

  • Ability to debug on HW using Lauterbach debugging tools
