Intel Firmware Engineer in Santa Clara, California
Join the 5G mobile revolution at Intel as part of the Next Generation and Standards group . We are looking for an experienced embedded software engineer in L1 PHY layer development for advanced 5G modem prototypes. Responsible for designing, coding, debugging advanced physical layer firmware of leading edge prototypes for 5G wireless modems. Work with standards technology development and system engineering to translate 5G communication designs and algorithms into functional 3GPP NR prototype designs using state of the art platforms.
Apply advanced problem solving of complex, modem subsystems involving PHY layer and PHY to MAC implementation. Assess risks and identify issues and solutions to timely and efficiently achieve program goals and project objectives. Drive resolution of technical issues with cross-functional teams. Escalate issues in an appropriate and timely manner.

4+ years industry experience in wireless communications firmware development
4+ years of experience with wireless protocol PHY layer and RRM algorithms, features and procedures
4+ years of experience with software development & methodologies
4+ years of experience with embedded C, C++ programming
4+ years of experience with embedded environments (VxWorks, ThreadX, embedded Linux) and processors (Intel Architecture, ARM or NIOS)
Ability to create detailed design specifications
Experience with 3GPP LTE/LTE-A/NR PHY layer algorithms, features and procedures
Experience with eNB/gNB MAC -- multiplexing of SDUs, scheduling info reporting, HARQ
Experience with eNB/gNB RRM -- link adaptation, power control, channel allocation, admission control, scheduling
Software debugging skills for embedded devices using trace and debug tools (Lauterbach)
Experience with software development and configuration management tools (Eclipse, Git, Gerrit, Jira)
