Intel Optical component design intern in Santa Clara, California
Intel Silicon Photonics Product Group (SPPD) is looking for an intern focused on optical component design for coherent communication systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for lab testing of various passive and active optical and photonic components including discrete devices and integrated photonic Rx chips, and Rx subsystems for Intel's next generation high-speed silicon photonic products. You will work closely with component and module design engineers for component characterization, optical sub-assembly testing, and data analytics. This position will be multi-task oriented.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through relevant training and/or research experience.
Must be currently be enrolled in a PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optical Science or related technical discipline.
Minimum 6 months of relevant hands-on experience in:
Passive (Multiplexer, Demultiplexer) optical component design and fabrication.
Passive component design simulation (FDTD, Beamprop, etc).
Tradeoffs associated with photonic integration.
