Intel Senior Photonic Integration Engineer in Santa Clara, California

Job Description

Intel's Silicon Photonics Product Division SPPD is currently looking for a Senior Photonic Integration Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for design and development of high-speed integrated optical receiver chip including Ge photo-diode, Avalanche photo-diode APD, wavelength division de-multiplexer, polarization controller, and waveguide coupler/spot size convertor. Responsibilities include device design and simulation, test-chip layout design, process design, device evaluation and characterization, test data analysis, and documentation of specifications. He/she is also expected to work closely with sub-system engineers for ROSA receive optical sub-assembly development including chip design for optical assembly, electronic packaging, yield, and reliability. Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through relevant previous job and/or research experiences.

Minimum qualifications

MS with 3+ years of experience or PhD with 1+ years of post-graduate experience

in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optoelectronics, Optics, Physics, and similar technical discipline

Minimum 1+ years of post-graduate experience in the following skillsets: - Simulation, design, fabrication, and characterization of high-speed photo-diode and APD - Integrated photonic chip design, tape-out, and characterization - Device simulation tools and optical simulation tools such as Sentaurus, Beamprop, Fullwave, Fimmwave, Fimmprop, Lumerical - Statistical data analysis tools - Die-level and module-level or subsystem-level testing including optical bandwidth and Rx sensitivity - Optoelectronics, semiconductor physics and device physics - Optical alignment and fiber coupling - DFx and DFMEA

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience in high-speed optical receiver chain design and characterization and understanding of key factors impacting receiver sensitivity

3+ years of experience in silicon photonics research and development
