Intel Silicon Photonics Device Test Engineer in Santa Clara, California

Job Description

Responsible for testing of various optical and photonic components and subsystems for next generation high-speed silicon photonic products. Work closely with component and module design engineers for component characterization, optical sub-assembly testing, and data analytics. Assist with module and system testing. Develop test setup and test flow for optical device characterizations. Define test plan and characterize high-speed photo-detectors. Perform high-speed receiver subsystem testing. Perform optical loss testing of waveguides, Demux, and fiber-to-chip coupling. Perform optical system testing.


Minimum qualifications:

  • Must have a BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in optical and electrical characterization of photonic devices at the die-level, wafer-level, or module level

  • Hands-on experience in test station (including test fixture) design, bring up, and qualification

  • Extensive experience with lab equipment such as high speed oscilloscopes, tunable laser, BER tester, OSA, RF spectrum analyzer, etc.

  • Familiar with statistical analysis SW such as JMP

  • Have good time management skills and is self-motivated, and have strong desire to succeed in a fast-paced and challenging environment

  • Able to work independently as well as effectively with a team

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferable qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics

  • Hands-on experience with evaluation board design and bring up for photonic device testing, including integration with electrical IC

  • Hands-on experience with lasers, optical modulators and photodetectors testing, as well as fiber-to-waveguide optical alignment

  • Familiar automated test programming with Matlab, Visual Basic, C, Labview, etc.
