Intel Technical Writer in Santa Clara, California

Job Description

Our team is looking for a Technical Writer to work on our Open Source documentation projects and our customer-specific documentation projects. You will work on making our documentation clear, concise and published in various formats: HTML, Word, PDF, and .md Git files. You will work in Git and create Pull Requests to facilitate reviews, collaborate with SMEs to build/modify the content, and test the instructions to ensure accuracy before publishing. This is not a generalist technical writing job, you will be required to generate and test instructions for a highly technical audience.

For this role, the ideal candidate should be:

  • Capable of validating, testing, reviewing, and editing new and existing materials for quality.

  • Capable of rapidly learning complex and technical content for Intel's A.I. Enterprise Software.

  • Can work with minimal direct supervision. Must be self-directed, creative and collaborative in a highly dynamic, multi-functional team environment across multiple Geographical areas.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Technical Communications or related field, or an Engineering degree and equivalent writing experience.

  • At least 5 years of significant experience as Technical Writer creating user guides, installation guides, releases notes and experience creating Open Source content for a highly technical audience.

  • Solid experience with Linux or UNIX OS to review/test engineering-provided content, as well as develop your own content.

  • Solid experience with standard documentation tools: MadCap Flare, Word, Acrobat, and Git (.md), and screen capturing tools.

  • Solid project management skills: create project outlines, plans, scope, timelines and deliverables, as well as multitasking and executing projects based on business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Open Source content generation and methodologies.

  • Proficiency in various graphic editing tools, such as Photoshop, SnagIt, etc.

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, etc.

  • Familiarity with Python, Kubernetes, and Docker a plus.
