Job Description

Join Intel's Next Generation & Standards (NGS) Group where we design and develop advanced technologies to create wireless & media ecosystems of the future. As a Video Compression Systems Engineer, you will build state-of-the-art prototypes of next-generation video-compression technologies.

Your specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop bit-accurate C/C++ algorithm reference models for prototypes of video encoders & decoders.

  • Assist in hardware architecture development.

  • Characterize fixed-point performance and optimize algorithms to improve hardware performance, latency, area, etc.

  • Support digital design & firmware teams with verification and bring-up of ASIP prototypes.

  • Assess risks and identify issues & solutions to achieve program goals and project objectives in a timely & efficient manner. Escalate issues and drive resolution of technical issues with cross-functional teams.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with a strong video/image processing background.

  • Experience in video compression, e.g., MPEG, H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, AV1.

  • Experience with C/C++, Python, Matlab or other simulation & modeling tools/languages.

  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating system.

  • Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hardware implementation of video encoding & decoding.

  • Experience with design, verification, and debug of algorithms targeted for ASIP, ASIC, or FPGA.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
